Johnny Nieto

He-Yuk! My name is Johnny Nieto, an enrolled member of the Tule River Yokuts Tribe from the Tule River Indian Reservation in California.

Growing up on the reservation inspired my passion for serving Native communities through leadership, education, and healthcare. I earned an Associate of Science in Business Administration from Moorpark College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Oklahoma State University. I am currently pursuing my Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Native American Leadership and Human Resources at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Throughout my career, I have served in Tribal government, education, economic development, and nonprofit leadership. I currently serve as the Program Director of the Native American Student Support and Success Program at Bakersfield College and am honored to serve as the Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Bakersfield American Indian Health Project (BAIHP).

I am committed to strengthening healthcare services, building meaningful partnerships, and advancing BAIHP’s mission to improve the health and well-being of American Indian and Alaska Native communities throughout Kern County.

Currently, I own two businesses Our Indigenous Traditions, a clothing line and Social Marketing Nation, LLC- a digital marketing company. I am very honored, grateful, and motivated to be a part of the Bakersfield American Indian Health Project as it transitions into a Health Clinic.
